Multi-Day Tours

Gros Morne Adventures has been the leading outdoor adventure tour company in Gros Morne National Park for 30+ years. It began leading sea kayak tours and over time has curated the best hiking vacation packages, wilderness backpacking trips and cultural walking tours in Newfoundland and Labrador. We focus on small group adventure travel with local guide expertise and sustainable tourism experiences that benefit our community and our visitors.

Do I need to bring hiking poles?2025-02-13T16:57:53+00:00

We do recommend hiking poles for some of the trails based on the terrain. Hiking poles help give you a boost uphill and more importantly, can take strain and impact off your joints going downhill. They help with balance on rocky and uneven terrain, which we have a lot of. If you do not have poles or cannot travel with them, we have many pairs for you to borrow during your trip. Your guides will offer some tips for the proper use of hiking poles on the trails. They are essential on the backpacking trip!

What are your health and safety recommendations?2025-02-13T16:56:53+00:00

It is essential to inform us of any health issues you may have prior to the trip. Our guides are all trained in First Aid and wilderness safety. Each guide will carry a wilderness first aid kit and extra essentials such as water, snacks, sunblock and hiking poles. If you are taking any medication, a list will be added to the first aid kit for emergency purposes. Physical ailments such as back and joint problems are common and our guides should be made aware of these issues to ensure your comfort and safety.

If you have any dietary restrictions it’s very important to inform us in advance in order to make the necessary arrangements. We are limited in the communities of Gros Morne for any specialty food such as gluten or dairy free items, they need to be purchased prior to the trip by our guides. Allergies and restrictions are common for the restaurants and they can accommodate us with advanced notice.

What do I need in my backpack for a hiking adventure?2025-02-13T16:56:04+00:00

Be prepared for rapid weather changes on all of our guided hiking tours! Most of the hiking trails in Gros Morne National Park have minimal shade so sun protection is important. The tops of mountains are often cold and windy so there is a need for warm clothing too. Dressing in layers is key to a pleasant hike!

-Hiking boots

-Rain jacket & pants

-Water bottle or bladder for minimum 2 litres

-Lunch & snacks

-Sun hat

-Sunglasses

-Sunblock

-Warm layer & gloves

*A note of the RIGHT FABRIC for coastal and mountainous hiking: Cottons are cold when wet and take considerable time to dry. We strongly recommend wearing polyester blend garments that will dry quickly.

Where are the accommodations for the guided multi-day tours?2025-02-13T16:54:16+00:00

Our partner company, Gros Morne Basecamp, has comfortable, spacious 1 or 2 bedroom cottages and suites. They are in separate locations however both within a 10 minute walk from each other and the waterfront property of Gros Morne Adventures. These are based on double occupancy. For solo travellers, you have the option to try and share with another, however the single supplement of $445 will apply if no one is available. We recommend booking our accommodation before and after the Long Range Traverse trip for proximity and ease of transport. Follow the link for more information: Gros Morne Basecamp

What is the group size of your guided multi-day tours?2025-02-13T16:53:24+00:00

Our focus is small group adventure travel, which allows for a more intimate experience, cultural immersion and the best food! Tours are planned for 4-12 participants and the group dynamics are wonderful, with like-minded, active travellers. With groups larger than 6-7 participants, you will have 2 guides. On days of moderate-challenging hikes, another guide may be added to ensure everyone is taken care of at their own pace. The Long Range Traverse backpacking trip is smaller still, with groups of 2-6 unless it is a larger private group.
